GENERAL STRIKE BAND

We are a band out of Portland, Oregon. Since 1987 we have played on picket lines, at union rallies and conventions and at other socially progressive gatherings or protests. We are helping to keep alive the spirit of the labor movement, and its music tradition. We sing many of the old Wobbly songs and a few with our own lyrics.

If you are in the Pacific Northwest, General Strike is usually available to play for your union or social justice rally, picket line or union event. to discuss playing for you.

The general strike is the most practical form of non-violent direct action and mass protest. We, General Strike, the band, support this notion; just as we support actions of longer duration.

On May Day 2001 we released a CD called Fanning the Flames of Discontent.
